News: Our New Treasurer

Reg Willoughby (DHA 1944-49) has nobly volunteered to be our Hon.Treasurer, replacing Ken Fulton. As a supremely diligent member of WID at Hatfield, latterly Chief Inspector in the Flight Hangar, we can expect much attention to detail in his accounts. No doubt they will only be “stamped off” when he is satisfied fully with their conformity and fitness for purpose!

Reg is Chairman of the de Havilland Forty Year Club, Co-Chairman of the Ellenbrook Area Residents Association and Branch Secretary of the Independent Order of Foresters, Three Shires Branch. He’s also a Committee Member of the de Havilland Heritage Committee and the University of Hertfordshire Community Partnership. He is a member of the National Institute of Mechanical Engineers, the Royal Aeronautical Society, the Hatfield Aviation Association, the Popular Flying Association and an Honorary Member of the Hatfield Flying Club. As an ex member of The Turbi Group he is still an interested party to Turbi’s welfare.

Reg tells us that his (other!) interests are: family, flying small ‘flying machines’, aviation museums, ‘messing about’ in their eldest son’s boat, travel, social occasions, some gardening when body and soul feel up to it, reading, some TV documentaries, some Radio Four programmes. He says “I dislike car drivers who have so called ‘music’ played at full volume with car windows fully open, ‘litter bugs’, ‘junk’ programmes on TV, government promises (they are seldom fulfilled). I could go on and on, but then I am a ‘grumpy old man”.

But obviously a very busy one!
