Bruce died in June 2016 aged 86. He was instrumental in revitalising our Association in the early 1980s and in running it as Secretary for over thirty years. Among the tributes spoken at his funeral was this from our Chairman, Ian Newton:

As Chairman of the de Havilland Aeronautical Technical School Association I would like to say a few words about Bruce's massive contribution to the Association.
Over the course of thirty years as a committee member and long-time secretary, Bruce's efforts can only be described as enormous.
Ably supported by Pauline it would be no exaggeration to say that he rescued the Association from the doldrums and set it on the path to the position it enjoys today, as one of the most significant aviation groups in the UK.
By definition the DH Tech. School ceased to exist in 1964 when Hawker Siddeley took over the parent company. This means the youngest member of the Association is about 70 years of age! But thanks to Bruce's energy, enthusiasm and persistence there are around 550 members today.
Bruce created and maintained close links with like minded people in other organisations, for example; Stuart McKay of the Moth Club. This led to many happy gatherings amongst the club’s aeroplanes at Woburn, Old Warden and other venues.
He was also responsible for organising fine anniversary dinners every five years to mark the birth of the Technical School in 1928 and to the memory of its founder Sir Geoffrey de Havilland.
It is impossible to express adequately in a few words the debt we owe to Bruce, but many fine tributes from friends have been received by Pauline and the family.
