Hatfield Aerodrome 1935

An illustrated booklet entitled “Hatfield Aerodrome” was published in 1935 by G W May Ltd, London N7. To quote from the Introduction: “Within easy access of London, yet situated amidst delightful Hertfordshire country surroundings, Hatfield Aerodrome is undoubtedly the largest and finest private flying ground in Great Britain”. It describes the London Aeroplane Club, the de Havilland School of Flying and the Royal Air Force Flying Club, all located on the site. A copy is owned by our member Ted Lawrence, who kindly scanned the pages for us. It is a delightful piece of ephemera, containing views of buildings now gone and adverts for local shops and businesses also mostly now gone.

.... does The London Aeroplane Club membership list exist ? I have an L.A.C. token/badge for 1932/3 with the Bat-Wing Comet, that has number 143 on the reverse. I had the pleasure of living at Bricket Wood, during the 60's. Regards, Mike. IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT US AND WE WILL LET MIKE KNOW.

Fantastic to see this. Sincere thanks for your time and effort. I am ex DHE 56-66 and share the pleasure of the memories of Stag Lane and Hatfield, particularly as I am unable to attend events in the UK.
