I worked at De Havilland Farnworth as an inspector DHF74. I started in buisiness in 1972 and I used to buy redundant test equipment from both Farnworth and Manor Rd Hatfield. I also bought the analogue computer that I was told was used to test the Comet wings, the water tank was still in the yard.

Towards the end of my apprenticeship (1959 -1964) I was involved in testing the strength of the pilot's windows on the Trident by firing chickens, using compressed air, at the those windows. The test installation was based on the Manor Road site near the perimeter track.

I moved from the Aircraft Company to Props in the summer of 1960. At that point the site entrance had been moved to the parallel road. I can just about see my personnel office window in the photograph
