Hatfield Aerodrome From The Air
In July 2008 a number of photographs of the site of the former aerodrome at Hatfield, Hertfordshire were taken for the de Havilland Aeronautical Technical School Association. - Started a 5 Year Engineering apprenticeship with BOAC on 18th October 1955. Spent the first two years of this with de Havillands, initially at Astwick Manor followed by Aircraft factory and Leavesden Engine factory. Still in touch with other Engineers of my intake - great place to begin Aircraft Engineering.

- As a Hatfield born and bred resident, who had a father, sister and brother who all worked at DH's, I viewed your web site with pleasure and would compliment you on it. However, on reading your "from the air" article I note an error on the caption for the picture on page 4. The caption reads that the farm in the background is Birchwood Farm - not so - it is probably Harpsfield but is most definitely not Birchwood, which lay to the east of the, now A1(M), off the road now called Longmead.
