George A Frodsham, de Havilland Technical Illustrator
George Frodsham (1919-2006) was a Technical Illustrator for the Propeller Company and later for the Engine Company. In 2002 he published a history of his time with de Havilland. The original web pages have vanished, but were captured by Leavesden apprentice Stewart Gray and posted on the Rolls-Royce Leavesden Facebook page in February 2025. The article is reproduced here with his consent. Stewart says “I started my technical illustration apprenticeship at the de Havilland Engine Company, which became a division of Bristol Siddeley and then of Rolls-Royce, all before I completed my apprenticeship! George was my boss and mentor, who I will always remember with appreciation and affection. One of the most patient men I have ever known”.
